Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are healthcare professionals who provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN). They are responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing. CNAs also monitor patients' vital signs, observe and report changes in their condition, and assist with medical procedures as directed by the RN or LPN. To become a CNA, individuals typically complete a state-approved training program and pass a competency exam. CNAs can work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and home health agencies. They play a crucial role in providing quality care to patients and ensuring their safety and well-being.
